She studied a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand\, Braamfontein (South Africa)\, from 1997 to 2002. In 2012 Dr Sher studied Paediatric Emergency Medicine at the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine in Melbourne. In Loren’s previous role\, she was the Director of the Northern Hospital’s Paediatric Emergency Department. Loren’s other career highlights include the development of a Paediatric HIV clinic in South Africa and the development of the Paediatric Emergency Department at The Northern Hospital. \nLoren constantly seeks opportunities to deliver equitable\, safe\, and gold-standard care\, particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. Loren’s recent medical adventures include exploring and creating efficiencies through the marriage of technology and medicine. Loren is enrolled in a PhD through La Trobe University\, researching digital solutions in Emergency Departments. \nPanel discussion with: \nDr Loren Sher\, Clinical Director – Victoria’s Virtual Emergency Department @ Northern Health\, Epping \nDr Santosh Kaur\, Founder & CEO of Smart Heal. He is well known for his roles as the former Premier of Victoria (2007 to 2010) and Treasurer (2000 to 2007)\, as well as his time in Federal Parliament (1983 to 1990) during the Hawke Government. \nSince retiring from politics in 2010\, John Brumby has taken on a number of roles in the not-for-profit and business sectors\, including as Chair of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust\, Citywide Service Solutions and the Fred Hollows Foundation. He is also the inaugural Chair of the Victorian Government’s $2 billion Breakthrough Victoria Fund. \nMr Brumby was awarded an Order of Australia in 2017 for distinguished service to the Parliament of Victoria\, to economic management and medical biotechnology innovation\, to improved rural and regional infrastructure\, and to the community. \nHe is the author of a number of articles and books\, including the 2015 book The Long Haul: Lessons from Public Life (Melbourne University Publishing).
