For Dr Rachel Chang, Greville Rd Medical & Dental is part of the family; her mother, Dr Sue Tan, a GP, and her husband, Stanley Chang, a general surgeon established it in 2004 and Rachel worked there as a teenager in school holidays helping out with administration and on reception.
Rachel grew up in Banyule and having been raised in a family of medical practitioners, it was hardly surprising that she went on to become a dentist in an area where she lives and an area she knows and loves.
In 2014, after working in country Victoria gaining experience in dentistry, Rachel and her husband, Dr Jacob Chan, also a dentist, decided to expand the clinic to include dental services
“Running our own business has been a huge learning curve. My mum has been very hands on, right from the start, and I think my husband and I inherited this mentality when we joined the clinic. Now, not only are we clinicians, but we are involved in daily operations, website development, marketing, administration, bookkeeping… the list goes on! I would say the growth of our business is a result of our family’s genuine passion to provide a personalised, high quality health service to our community.
“We’ve worked hard to stay true to our ethos of nurturing healthy families. I honestly feel so grateful to be working where I am. As a boutique clinic, most of our referrals are through word of mouth. It is these referrals from our lovely patients which inspire us and help our business continue to grow.
